Question Answered step-by-step Using any resources that you can find, identify the difference… Using any resources that you can find, identify the difference between nursing practice and advanced practice nursing.  Support advanced practice nursing by identifying nursing theories that can be applied to advanced practice nursing.According to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, advanced nursing practice is defined as nurses who have completed a higher level of education (master’s or doctorate), earning them the privilege to diagnose, create treatment plans, order lab test, assess patients, and become primary providers (2021). They also explain the several types of advanced practice providers, which depending on what type of provider one chooses to be, also come with different roles and responsibilities (The Chicago School, 2021).  Nursing Practice, however, is defined as being a licensed registered nurse (RN) to whom works with patients or help others work with patients, to provide patient education, patient care, etc. (ONCC, 2021) The difference between the two are the degrees of responsibility and scope of practice. The American Nurses Association (ANA) reports that the scope of practice depends on “the services that a qualified health professional is deemed competent to perform and permitted to undertake-in keeping with the terms of their professional license” (ANA, n.d.). Meaning, that depending on the degree, clinical practice, and licensing, a registered nurse can provide different forms of care within the scope of practice they are trained and qualified to perform. It’s important to remember that though one can be knowledgeable, does not mean it is safe to perform a certain procedure that one has not been qualified to do. For example, as a current registered nurse with a BSN, I cannot write a script for a certain medication even though I am very familiar with that particular drug and the therapeutic effect it can provide. It is not within my scope of practice as a registered nurse in my current position. However, once I can obtain my FNP license, DEA, and NPI, then I would be able to be perform such practice.  ReferenceAmerican Nurses Association.
