Description:
The research project should demonstrate the ability to do the following:
• Interpret and apply economic concepts relating to the Australian
economy to wider economic theory and/or comparing specific aspects
of economic information
• Develop a sound knowledge of the Australian economy and of world
economic phenomena as they affect and are affected by Australia
• Search, gather and organise information from reliable sources relevant
to particular economic issues
• Write a clearly structured and formatted report
Assessment 3 is worth 20% of your overall mark.

This assessment is to be conducted not in class/at home.
1. The reflective journal will be submitted through the ‘Economics 511’ page on
‘My Phoenix Online’.
2. The format of the research project is to be discussed with the
teacher/trainer during the designated class session.
Assessor will needs to use the assessment marking guide for the assessment.
Where a student has a disability or condition that affects their ability to complete the
assessment as set out in this document, adjustments can be made to allow them to
carry out the assessment. These adjustments will not interfere with the assessment
requirements set out in the unit of competency and associated training package.
Any adjustments to this assessment will be discussed and agreed upon by assessor and
candidate prior to the date for the assessment.

Instructions to Candidate:
This is a Research Project where it is required that you write a written report of at least 1200
words based on a chosen topic from a list of topics provided by the assessor (Note: word limit
can be +10% over the suggested length).
You are required to search, gather and organise information from reliable sources relevant to
a particular economic issue. It is required that you interpret and apply economic concepts
relating to the Australian economy to wider economic theory and/or comparing specific
aspects of economic information. Also you will need to develop a sound knowledge of the
Australian economy and of world economic phenomena as they affect and are affected by
Australia.
